4-Day Safari - Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti Wildlife

This epic four-day safari takes you to the Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park on a whirlwind safari adventure. Get ready to enjoy the incredible scenery as you spot elephants, buffalo, ostriches, giraffes, jackals, hyenas, lions, antelopes, leopards and cheetahs (if you're lucky) as you drive through the open plains with your knowledgeable and experienced driver. The tour also includes a night before and after the tour in Arusha. Note, animal sightings aren't guaranteed, but our drivers strive to find them!

This tour includes two nights in a hotel (at the beginning and end of the trip) and six nights camping in North Face VE-25 (the same tents used in Everest expeditions). All camping equipment will be provided and set up by porters.

Day 1 – Arrival
The group arrives at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO). Participants are met by a representative of Altezza Travel and transferred to a hotel in Arusha.

Day 2 - Tarangire
After breakfast (around 7:30 AM) your safari guide will arrive at the hotel, from here you'll hop in our vehicles and head to Tarangire National Park, and by 10:00 AM you will already be on your first safari! Tarangire is packed with wildlife (lions, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, etc.) but is renowned for its high volume of elephants. Head to the Tarangire River and watch them accumulate for an afternoon drink! After your game drive, lunch will be provided, before the safari continues into the late afternoon. Come evening you'll transfer to your hotel on the edge of the Ngorongoro volcanic crater.

Day 3 - Ngorongoro
Today you'll eat breakfast on the road, in a bid to spend as much time with the wildlife as possible. The tour heads to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of the most famous and interesting of Tanzania's national parks home to the greatest number of different animal species per square kilometre. Keep your eyes peeled for caracals, servals, and rhinoceros. You will have the chance to see buffalo, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippopotamus and feline species such as caracals and servals. Lunch today will be eaten by the lake before continuing the safari and transferring to the Serengeti National Park. Pay a visit to Bernhard and Michael Grzimek memorial, two Tanzanian National Park heroes. In the evening you will be transferred to a hotel in the centre of the Serengeti valley.

Day 4 – Serengeti
After breakfast, you will start the safari by being transferred to the central part of the Serengeti (also called Seronera). Here your driver will try to find the animals you're the most interested in. Closer to lunch time you will visit the Serengeti Visitor Centre, where you will be offered a lunchbox and provided with lots of interesting information on the animals and the history of the National Park. Also, In the evening you will be transferred to a hotel, where you will have dinner and be able to rest.

Day 5 - Serengeti
After breakfast, you will safari in the eastern and southern regions of the park. The savanna area provides a great opportunity to see cheetah hunting antelopes. By evening you will finish the safari and return to the hotel in Arusha.

Machame 7-Day Climbing Adventure Trekking

The seven day Machame climbing adventure see's you make your way up the tallest mountain on the African continent; Mount Kilimanjaro. As you wind your way upwards through Kilimanjaro National Park, enjoying spectacular views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo volcano. As you go, you'll begin to acclimatise to the altitude. Each day you'll press on a little further, camping under the stars each night and enjoying freshly cooked meals (featuring energy-rich food to keep your diet balanced), until you finally reach the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and experience real euphoria! You'll be accompanied by our trained and professional wilderness guides, each certified in first response and first aid practices and seven-plus years of climbing experience.

Day 1 – Arrival
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you will meet an Altezza Travel representative, and transfer to the hotel. The hotel will provide all the essentials for a comfortable stay: cosy rooms, hot water, polite staff, a swimming pool, and Internet access. In the evening there will be a briefing with our managers, who will also make sure you are ready to begin the climb.

Day 2 - Trekking from Machame Gate to Machame Camp
A guide and a mountain support crew will arrive at the hotel in the morning in order to meet you and hold a quick briefing, after which you will travel by vehicle to Kilimanjaro National Park's entrance: Machame Gate (1,800 m). After the quick formality of acquiring climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group will start trekking up to Machame Camp (3,010 m). The trekking route includes passage through the rainforest (where tropical showers are highly probable), so we recommend you take spare clothes and raincoats.

Day 3 - Trekking from Machame Camp to Shira Camp
After breakfast, you will start trekking up to the second high-altitude camp, Shira Camp (3,845 m). On this day you will emerge from the rainforest and for the first time be able to see stunning views of the Shira Plateau laid out in front of you. Physically speaking, the trekking is not very difficult, but you may feel the changes in altitude, so pay attention to your body and remember that choosing the proper pace is extremely important for good trekking. Upon reaching camp you will have lunch and rest, after which the group will go on an acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower Camp with a 300-meter gain in altitude. Back down at Shira Camp, you will be served a hot dinner.

Day 4 – Trekking from Shira Camp to the Lava Tower and Descent to Barranco Camp
After breakfast you will leave Shira Camp (3,845 m) and make your way to the key point of the route: Lava Tower (4,630 m). This section of the route has a lot of ascents and descents that end in a camp at over 4,600 meters. It might be difficult, and you may feel some discomfort, but in order to successfully acclimate to the altitude you have to spend at least 1–2 hours here, so this is where lunch will be. Next, you will descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m). Here you can see the famous Barranco Wall, impressive in both its size and steepness! Tomorrow, you will be climbing it, don't worry, it features a very simple hiking trail.

Day 5 - Trekking from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Early wake up, breakfast and then start summiting Barranco Wall (we recommend you leave the camp as early as possible to avoid crowds of the other groups). Hiking up the gorge wall is not difficult and only takes around an hour. After the climb, you can have a rest and take photos in front of the Kibo volcano. Next, you start a more difficult hike to Karanga Camp, which features numerous ascents and descents during the route, our guides will help by setting the optimal pace for the group. After reaching the camp you will be offered a warm lunch. After a couple of hours, you will have to complete ascend to Barafu Camp (4,640 m) where you will be served a hot dinner. It is better to spend the remainder of the day resting and sleeping before night summiting.

Day 6 - Ascent to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Millennium Camp
Departure from Barafu Camp (4,640 m) at night and the start of summiting Kilimanjaro: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Technically the climb is relatively simple; however, the most challenging part is the high altitude. Each pair of climbers will get a personal guide for the entire ascent to monitor your physical and mental conditions. After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak, you can descend to the nearest glacier if desired. Then you will return to Barafu Camp and after a 2-hour rest continue your descent to Millennium Camp (3,820 m).

Day 7 - Descent from Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate
The camp is situated in a tropical rainforest. When you wake up, you will feel relief from the reduction of the height and the satisfaction of reaching the summit. After a warm breakfast, you will head for the park's exit: Mweka Gate (1,650 m). After your descent the whole group will gather to congratulate you, followed by offering you a chance to share your opinions on the climb in the guestbook. Lastly, we will present you with your commemorative certificates in our office and provide you with a transfer back to the hotel.

Marangu 6-Day Climbing Adventure Trekking

This six-day hike heads to the summit of Africa's highest mountain; Mount Kilimanjaro. The route passes through Marangu, an area on the south-western slope of Kilimanjaro and one of the most popular climbing routes in the Kilimanjaro region. You're six days of trekking involve winding your way up towards the summit, taking part in acclimatisation hikes and admiring the views as you go. Trip highlights include views of the Shira Plateau, Kibo volcano and the election of summiting the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro. Get ready to camp under the stars and tick off your bucket list!

Location

The Altezza Travel headquarters (our safari and climbing base) can be found in the Machame area, 20km out of Moshi town, surrounded by lush vegetation and jungle. As Kilimanjaro National Park is just a 15-minute drive from our base camp, and Kilimanjaro International Airport just a 40-minute drive away, we’re ideally situated to explore the Kilimanjaro region at ease.

Food

All of our multiday trekking and safari excursions includes three meals a day. Meals will be prepared by our wonderful porters who’ll join you on the road, and the daily menu features an array of fish and meat dishes, soups, garnishes, fresh fruit and vegetables. If you have a dietary issue, please let us know well in advance so that we can strive to accommodate you.

Aishi Machame Hotel

Beds: 1 Room size: Single or twin rooms available.

The Aishi Machame Hotel is situated at the foothills of the Mount Kilimanjaro and used as our base hotel before and after Kili hikes. The hotel features cosy garden view rooms, a swimming pool with a lounge zone, bar, restaurant and free Wi-Fi. Price is included in the tour cost.
