If you prefer some solitude then visit the paradisical Arakwal National Park and Tallow Beach. A largely deserted sandy beach that extends for 7km south from Cape Byron. Byron Bay is a well-known centre for alternative therapy, so make sure you enjoy some relaxing time taking in a massage or other treatment. Artisans and creators have been drawn to Byron Bay by the fabulous lifestyle and natural serenity. You will find wonderful local markets, at which to shop for the perfect creation or the freshest produce. Although in Northern New South Wales, flight access to Byron Bay is usually through Queensland. It is only 170 kilometres South of Brisbane and about 90 kilometres south of the Gold Coast, both of which have airports with regular flights. There are airport transports services available to Byron Bay, or you may wish to hire a car, to enjoy a pleasant drive down the Pacific Highway. Byron Bay is also serviced by regular bus and train services.
