Crystal Cascades Waterfall Tour Mixed Adventures

Fall into a wet and wild adventure. Short on time but big on thrills - this is the perfect adventure for you. Enjoy a relaxing morning before you begin an adventure that packs some of the best of Cairns into a single day. Splash into action as you visit the Crystal Cascades and Fairy Falls with options for wakeboarding and bungee jumping - or simply explore the wet and wild environment. After the falls enjoy a local beer at the Mcalister Brewery with excellent mountain views. Rest, relax and recuperate in time for your swim in the surf at Holloways Beach.

Day 1 Crystal Cascades
11am-11: 45 am Pick ups & drive from Cairns to Crystal Cascades & Fairy Falls carpark or; Cairns Cable Wake Park!
11:45am-2: 15 pm Hike through the rainforest, swim at the waterfalls, photograph, sun-bake or shred some wake. Free time to get that tropical goodness in!
2:15pm-3: 45 pm Now it's time to head for the AJ Hackett bungee tower... Get your thrills with a bungee jump from above the rainforest canopy with a water dunk waiting at the bottom or; swing through the jungle with your friends on the Minjin swing. Fancy a bit more of a relaxed approach..? Take in the stunning views from the tower that stretch out to the Coral Sea or unwind at the licensed bar and cafe. The beats are always pumping there!
3:45pm-4: 45 pm A short drive to the Mcalister Brewery where you can enjoy a locally brewed beer & some snacks from a local food truck whilst taking in the mountain range views.
4:45pm-5: 45 pm Holloways Beach. Get some sand between your toes & take a dip in the ocean in the safety of the stinger nets or; maybe just savour a refreshing drink at the local bar whilst watching the waves roll in... They also do great meals!
5:45pm-6pm The road trip is nearly over but the adventure never ends! Along our return leg to Cairns, make some dinner plans with your road trip gang and enjoy recalling your perfect day in tropical paradise!

2 days 1night Atherton-Tablelands Mixed Adventures

Get Lush in the Atherton-Tablelands – enter a world of fecundity and fertility with fantastic flora and fauna. Discover the marvellous mysteries and secret spots of these terrific tablelands. Journey into authentic Australia making your trip as mild or wild as you choose. With options for hiking, waterfalls, mountain biking, volcanic lakes, coffee plantations, museums, horse-riding and working farms. Observe domestic and wild animals, even peering into the eyes of the platypus. Sleep in an authentic Aussie swag.

  • All cooking equipment, utensils & cutlery.

  • We’ll provide food for 1 dinner, 1 breakfast and some snacks throughout the tour.

  • Camping and sleeping equipment. A custom made, quality swag bedroll and all bedding.

Enjoy friendly banter around the campfire as you cook dinner and enjoy a great night sleeping in your authentic Australian swag in our private rainforest campsite.

Day 1 Cairns to Atherton Tablelands
Let’s do this! We head straight towards the tablelands, taking in some of the most awe-inspiring sights such as Barron Falls along the way. We’ll have options to swim at some off-the-beaten-path waterfalls or go to one of the local coffee plantations if you need your caffeine and chocolate fix, as well as going to a quiet spot where you can feed some endangered wallabies in the wild. There’s plenty of stops along the way for lunch, including great little Aussie pubs where you can enjoy a hearty counter meal. For the afternoon there’s a choice of; a self-guided & challenging 11km (return) hike to a breathtaking waterfall, relaxing by a pristine volcanic lake, mountain bike hire-and-ride on acclaimed Atherton trails or visiting the historic tin mining settlement town of Herbeton (with a unique spy museum and delicious home-made scones from the local cafe!). Our private rainforest camp-site is also a working farm. So when it’s feeding time, you can help with the goats, sheep, cattle, buffalo, chickens, ducks & dogs! There are also extensive rainforest trails to explore on the property, home to the elusive tree kangaroo among other native wildlife. As the day winds down, we’ll get the fire going and prepare our camp dinner, helped along with some friendly banter. In the lush surrounds of our private campsite, find your favourite spot and set up your swag for a great night’s sleep.

Day 2 Atherton Tablelands to Cairns
Have you heard of those funky platypus creatures? Would you like to see one in the wild?! We’ll wake up early, take you to them and teach you how to spot ’em! Nearby we can check out a natural symbiotic phenomenon at the stunning curtain fig tree. We’ll soak in the beauty of our camp-site one last time at breakfast before packing up and getting back on the road. If horsepower is your idea of a good day on the trails: horseback trail-riding is available at Tait’s Wongabel Stables right next door to our camp-site property! Everyone gets some water time in the pristine Far North Queensland tropics today! Massive gorges with expansive views that remind you of nature’s power… Some of the best-known swimming holes such as Millaa Falls and Josephine Falls with its natural rock water-slides (and a few less-frequented ones!)… Rainforest trails… Quirky architecture coupled with natural beauty at Paronella Park… There’s a bunch of stop-off destinations for lunch and stunning scenery to take in along the road today! True road trip spirit! You’ll be returned to Cairns in the evening full of stories and refreshed from your adventurous time spent in nature!

Please Bring:
Practical clothes and shoes suitable for hiking and outdoor activities. Long pants and protective enclosed shoes for activities such as horse-riding and mountain biking… and swimmers, of course! We suggest 3 sets of clothes (1 warm jumper/pants), light rain jacket, sturdy shoes, water bottle or camelbak, a towel, swimmers, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, basic toiletries and a small torch or headlamp (ESSENTIAL!). Wallet for lunches and $2 coin for a hot shower at camp-site. Please keep luggage to a MAXIMUM 10KG/PERSON as there is limited space onboard. LEAVE MAIN LUGGAGE AT YOUR ACCOMMODATION. We start with a bang! Following pick up from Cairns, we’ll offer you the chance to get the adrenaline pumping and to bond with your fellow travellers. We can get you up to a 20% discount on local cable-park wakeboarding, bungee jumping or jungle swing. For those wanting a slower pace, we can take you to a nearby waterfall swimming hole or beach and soak in some scenery while the others get their thrills! In the afternoon we head into the tablelands. Along the way, you can get your caffeine and chocolate fix at a local coffee plantation and feed some endangered wallabies in the wild. Day 2 has massive potential for the active and relaxed characters alike..; Sun-baking by a refreshing crystal clear volcanic lake, nature-spotting, easy-to-access waterfalls and gorges, home-made scones, gorgeously scenic tableland roads, historic local mining towns, pub lunches, horseback trail riding, mountain bike hire and ride in Atherton as well as some challenging hikes with a stunning waterfall reward at the end! The choices abound – we’ll show you the way! Our private camp-site will feel like home on night 2 as you recap the day that was with your fellow travellers.

Day 3 Return to Cairns via epic & iconic locations
A HUGE day! Everyone gets some water time in the pristine Far North Queensland tropics. Multiple swimming stop points include Millaa Falls and the unmissable Josephine Falls, where you can enjoy the natural rock water-slides. Explore the quirky stories and architecture coupled with natural beauty at Paronella Park. There’s also a bunch of other stop-off opportunities for lunch and stunning scenery to take in along the road today! True road trip spirit! You’ll be returned to Cairns Sunday evening full of stories and refreshed from your adventurous time spent in nature!

Enjoy your stay in Cairns - you will have plenty of options for accommodation ranging from budget to high-end. Remember it is going to be warm so a place with a swimming pool is always a good idea. Be aware that during the high-season June-September it pays to book in advance. When travelling overnight with the Adventure Network check your package for accommodation details these will vary from camping to external accommodation. With external accommodation you can arrange your own location.

In easy reach of the Great Barrier Reef, Northern Beaches, Tropical Rainforests, Tablelands, Mountains and Paradisical Islands – you are bound to spend more time out than in. No longer a gold-fields port – Cairns is now a tourism goldmine. Enjoy all the attendant tourism activity and adventures. With diving, snorkelling and island hopping around the Great Barrier Reef. Exploration of the Daintree National Park, the Atherton Tablelands and the Queensland Outback. Get an aerial viewpoint with Ballooning, Sky Diving and Hang Gliding. Walk, cycle, coach or train ride through spectacular scenery and wildlife. Visit Cairns on the East Coast of Far-North Queensland for adventure and leisure. You can get to Cairns via the Cairns International Airport that has limited overseas flights or fly internally from a larger international airport such as Brisbane. It is reasonably easy to rent a car and drive in Australia although remember these are long distances across a vast continent. No matter whether you prefer – vegetarian, vegan, or a straight out steakhouse, you will find somewhere to suit your diet. Of course in true Australian fashion, you should wash it all down with a cold beer. If you prefer to cook at your accommodation then visit the markets or local supermarkets for a great range of produce.
