Go Grizzly – Gulf Islands Kayaking Kayaking

Buckle up for excitement – speedboats, grizzly bears and humpback whales – the thrills never stop. Ride a speedboat to and from a remote wilderness island archipelago spotting orcas, humpback whales, and grizzly bears. Spend 2 days kayaking through a remote wilderness enjoying the calm serenity of these sheltered islands. A fantastic family or individual opportunity to explore the wilds of Canada and camp beneath the stars.

Sleep beneath the stars and enjoy the proximity of a natural wilderness on your doorstep. On overnight excursions with A Paddle in the Park you will be camping. You can hire camping equipment for an extra cost however many clients prefer to bring their own camping equipment.

Day 1 Speedboat ride into the Island Archipelago

Dare to explore new frontiers, journey beyond the reach of your paddle – as you combine kayaking with sailing. Enjoy luxurious accommodation and gourmet food as you relax and unwind each night upon the mothership – sailing from one scenic anchorage to the next. Spend your days greeting exotic wildlife as you paddle the calm waters and visit golden beaches.

Paddle in Paradise – Portland Island Kayaking

Calm waters, golden sands, steep cliffs and hidden coves. Step into an Enid Blyton-esque world, where adventure awaits the whole family or the intrepid individual. Spend 3 days and 2 nights exploring the island and its waters, with 10 kilometres of walking tracks and miles of flat water. Chance upon - Mink, Otters, and Bald Eagles as you soak up the history viewing remnants of civilizations dating back to the First Nations. Relax beneath the stars enjoying Gourmet meals.

Day 1-3, Kayaking Portland Island

Paddle for 2 hours to reach Portland Island, from here you can explore the local area over 3 days.

Location

Nestled snugly between the Canadian mainland and the East Coast of Vancouver Island are the glorious Gulf Islands. These sheltered waters with a Mediterranean climate are the ideal spot for experiencing the Canadian wilderness. You will find – sailing, kayaking, fishing, and scuba diving, alongside golden beaches and pristine wilderness. With more than 200 islands in the group, you will have plenty of nooks, crannies, coves, channels and waterways to explore. Discover unique cultures and histories on the larger islands that have been populated for many generations. Today you will find many artists and artisans who have been drawn to this cultural and climate hot-spot, trading their wares and adding a colorful vibe. If you can – then fly directly into Victoria International Airport (YYJ) which is on Vancouver Island and very close to Sidney where most of our tours depart. If you cannot fly directly into YYJ then fly to Vancouver international airport, from here you can get connecting flights or rent a car and drive using the ferry crossing.

Food

Enjoy gourmet camp food, as you participate in multi-day excursions with A Paddle in the Park. You will find plenty of great restaurants on Vancouver Island and throughout British Columbia. Enjoy Canadian and British staples as well as diverse cuisines from around the world. The Pacific Ocean is the great provider and you will discover fabulous fresh fish and seafood – King Crab, Oysters and of course magnificent Salmon. If you have a sweet-tooth or a taste for history – then make sure you try a Victoria Cream. Dating back to a recipe from 1885 this is a mouth-watering, tongue-caressing, chocolate delicacy, with raspberry, ginger and maple.
