SUN KOSI 9 DAY EXPEDITION SUP

On this 9-day river rafting excursion, you’ll wiz down the Sun Kosi river on our rafts, flying past jungle, past lush hills close to the Tibetan border and immerse yourself in Nepal's wildlife. Your evenings will be spent refuelling on the chef's dish of the day before camping out on a secluded beach. 
Those who’d prefer to kayak, instead of whitewater raft, are more than welcome to do so

  • Transfers to and from the river by bus

  • All rafting equipment (including helmets, dry bags and wetsuits), river permits and photos from the trip

  • All camping equipment (tent, mattress, sleeping bag) and all meals on the river

On this excursion, you’ll camp out at secluded beaches along the river in tents. We provide the tents, sleeping bags, mattresses and pillows. Our camps are always surrounded by nature and the evenings are spent watching the sunset, listening to the flowing river and admiring the scenery.

Day 1 - Departure
Get to our offices this morning nice and early as the tour bus departs from Kathmandu and heads to Dolaghat. Here we’ll stop for lunch, set up the rafts and listening to a safety briefing. After dressing in your river clothes its time to hop into the raft and begin down the river!

Day 2, 3 and 4 - Rafting
The next three days will be spent getting used to whitewater rafting, becoming confident in the raft and learning new skills. We begin with Grade 2 rapids to break you into the sport. At lunch, we’ll take long breaks and visit local Hindu temple before heading to our campsites, one of which sits on Butterfly Beach.

Day 5-8 - Progression
The adventure begins! Enjoy an entire day of rafting down the river, thrashing through the water and paddling like there’s no tomorrow. Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys playing on the banks.

Day 9 - Departure
As the tour progresses, we’ll pick up the pace and start riding over bigger and bouncier rapids! Again, evenings will be spent at our beach camp where you can enjoy fishing, playing football or enjoy yoga on the beach. After a fun-packed nine days of rafting (or kayaking) down the Sun Kosi River, it's time to hop back on the bus and depart back to Kathmandu.

Trisuli day trip Rafting

On this full day, Trisuli rafting trip you’ll whitewater raft down the river Trisuli from Chauraudi to Chumligtar. Bouncing along the water, you’ll feel a rush of adrenaline, paddling through the waves as they come. Those who’d prefer to kayak down the river (instead of rafting) are more than welcome to!

  • All rafting equipment (including helmets, dry bags and wetsuits), river permits and photos from the trip

This day trip doesn’t include accommodation though the trip can be extended to two days to enjoy a night at our river camp.

Hour 1 - Pick Up
Meet at the GRG offices in Kathmandu at 6:30 am.

Hour 2-5 - Departure
Hop aboard the bus and take the 3.5 hour drive to Chauraudi where the rafting experience begins.

Hour 6 - Arrival
Our guides will unpack the bus, set up the equipment and get you ready for the river. You’ll have plenty of time to change into your river clothes before we begin.

Hour 7 - Safety Briefing
The group then heads down to the river for a safety briefing.

Hour 8-9 - Adventure Time
The adventure begins! Enjoy an entire day of rafting down the river, thrashing through the water and paddling like there’s no tomorrow. Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys playing on the banks.

Hour 10 - Lunch Stops
The tour stops for lunch on a secret beach before continuing down the river over big, bouncy rapids named ‘Ladies Delight’, ‘Monsoon’, ‘Landslide’ and ‘Butterfly’.

Hour 11 - Departure
After whitewater rafting for 20km you’ll be happy to climb back aboard the bus and take the drive back to the GRG office.

4 Day Kayak Clinic Kayaking

This four-day kayaking excursion is perfect for beginners who’d love to learn how to kayak or brush up on their skills. By the end of the trip, you’ll understand the basics of whitewater kayaking and be able to tackle Grade 2 and Grade 3 rapids. Itineraries for this tour differ based on the groups ability. We will never force you to progress to harder waters if you don’t feel comfortable. This tour is also available in one, two and three day packages.

About the location

Accommodation

If you’re enjoying a multi-day excursion, you’ll sleep at our Riverside Beach Camp in the Gurung Valley. The camp sits aside the Trisuli River in the Gorkha district of Nepal and offers basic but comfortable accommodation in the form of camping. Guests sleep in two-man tents or bamboo huts, and we provide the sleeping bags, mattresses and pillows. As the camp is surrounded by nature, there’s plenty of things to see and do in your downtime including swimming in the manmade pool, hiking in the nearby hills or joining in a game of beach volleyball.

Location

Nepal is one of the best countries in the world for whitewater rafting, and we’ve decided to set up our camp on the banks of the Trishuli River, in Kathmandu. Here you’ll find the Gurung Valley, in the Gorkha district, an area of Nepal completely surrounded by nature.

Food

At our Riverside Beach Camp, your guides will conjure up a mix of delicious Western and Nepalese dishes. For breakfast, you’ll have the choice of eggs, pancakes, toast, porridge and fruit. For lunch, you can dine on pasta, salads, rice, cheese and meats and for Dinner, you can indulge in Dal Bhat, chicken curry and Buffalo steak! We always have snacks on sight too to tide you over between meal times. All our dishes are cooked at the side of the river using gas stoves, and the ingredients are locally sourced.
