Chinaman’s Hat Kayak Tour Kayaking

You can keep your hat on - as you stroke and paddle your kayak out to this stunning basalt islet, Mokoliʻi (Chinaman’s Hat). Journey across clear and shallow waters with a vivid turquoise hue. Enjoy the serenity of calm waters embraced by the reef-lined shore. Marvel at the sight of vibrant fish and corals. Take a hike and explore the island with spectacular views of the Ko’olau Mountain Range and Kaneohe Bay on the east side of Oahu.

All year round

You will be ocean kayaking and therefore we suggest this tour for intermediate or advanced individuals who are experienced in kayaking. Ocean conditions can change quickly and kayaking can be dangerous. That said, this is one of the safest Oahu kayak tours in the ocean under normal or ideal conditions. We advise that children over 12 years old are safe to do this tour, but younger children may join the tour. You will be required to sign a liability waiver. Wear Sunscreen, bring/wear water shoes or athletic shoes if you want to hike around on Chinaman’s Hat and please leave valuables at home.

Rainforest River Kayak Self-Guided Tour Kayaking

Guide yourself into a magical rainforest, gaining a wonderful watery view of this pristine and verdant ecology. Enjoy misty green-clad mountains, calm refreshing river waters, turquoise oceans, and fabulous beach-scapes. Paddle your way up river through the valley then out into the bay for a superb view of the coast. Swing over the river on the optional rope swings, see the scintillating colours of rippling fish and watch out for wetland birds.

Since this is a self-guided experience, no tour guide will be provided. You will be receiving the kayaks at the meeting location and we can help you load the kayaks on your vehicle so you can transport them to the kayak launch location. Any 4 door Sedan, van or SUV will work fine. It’s a short drive around the corner to your destination, so we will loan you pads and straps to transport the kayak to the launch location. Apply sunscreen and wear a swimsuit.

Find sanctuary and freedom as you get away from the hustle and bustle of busy Honolulu and visit Active Ohau Tours in the smaller Northern settlement of Laie. Laie was historically a sanctuary for fugitives known as a puʻuhonua. It was unlawful to pursue a fugitive into this city or to harm a fugitive whilst inside the boundaries. Today Laie is home to the Polynesian Culture Centre, a fabulous museum featuring the cultures of seven Polynesian islands. The entire North Shore of Oahu is famous for its monstrous winter waves and fabulous surf beaches, yet it also contains so many over wonderful gems to discover and explore. International visitors can easily get to Oahu by flying into Honolulu International Airport. Outside of busy Honolulu driving on the island is a pleasurable exercise and a rental car will give you a great opportunity to explore the island and visit Laie.

Food

Take this opportunity to expand your palate with some wonderful cuisine whilst visiting Oahu. From traditional Hawaiian fare, through to wonderful fusions of surf and turf. Try kaluha pork, lomi lomi salmon, or laulau, and of course, finish it all off with some shaved ice. You will find a multiplicity of restaurants and cafes on Oahu with something for all tastes and dietary requirements.
