Behold, vibrant red walls rising out of the Moroccan deserts, magical Moorish architecture, aromatic gardens, minarets, archways, and fountains. Simply step out of the doorway and enjoy the sights, sounds, tastes and aromas of this colourful place. Haggle your way to happiness in the many souks of Marrakesh, shopping for anything you can imagine, and even items that you have never considered. Purchase North African spices, wonderful local art, magic carpets, slippers or jewellery, the list goes on and on. Had enough of shopping, make sure you visit the Majorelle Garden previously owned by Yves Saint Laurent, here you can enjoy the sunshine and mosaic fountains. You can fly direct to Marrakesh through the Ménara International Airport, or travel by train within Morocco to Marrakesh railway station.

Food

Eating meals and drinking tea is a major part of the Moroccan and Berber culture. When sharing a meal with your Berber hosts expect to hear them say over and over “Eesh Eesh” literally “eat eat”. It is the responsibility of a host to feed their guests, and luckily for you the food is magnificent. A fine blend of exotic spices including chilli, cinnamon, pepper, nutmeg, berries, turmeric and grains of paradise. Most food is spicy but not hot. Make sure you enjoy a Tajine whilst in the High Atlas region, various meats flavoured with fruit, olives, vegetables and wonderful spices. Slow cooked with steam in a Tajine pot. Vegetarians can also experience the joy of Tajine with a simple vegetarian Tajine made from vegetables, chickpeas and flower petals. If you want to try the local version of a pie, then make sure you try a pastilla, chicken or pigeon with almonds and spices wrapped in a filo pastry. Of course, you have to sample some delightful Moroccan mint tea, be warned this will be fully flavoured, sugary sweet, and scalding hot.
