Five days of sensational surf and sun in the Serra de Sintra. Feel the passion and power of the perfect wave, as you join your experienced, enthusiastic surf instructor for daily in the water tutorials. Surf the best spots, in excellent conditions with top of the range equipment. Breathe deep, stretch your body and soul, with excellent Yoga programmes. Ironing out the kinks and aches from your daily surf.

Stay at the SaltyWay house, a recently renovated Portuguese moradia. You will enjoy a perfect location between mountains and sea in the parish of Colares. Spend your days climbing and surfing, your nights telling stories and laughing with fellow travellers. Cook meals for yourself or as a group in the fully appointed modern kitchen. Take a short journey to the villages of Almocageme and Praia das Maças to collect your supplies at the local markets, or to enjoy fine restaurants and bars. Choose from rooms for six or two people, or use a private chalet nearby. Towels Bed linen and free fast internet will be provided. Enjoy time relaxing in the garden, with local wine and a BBQ, or simply lounge about with a good book.

Day 1 - 5 – Daily Surfing Tutorials

Learn to surf in a fun, no pressure environment. At the best surf spots chosen to match your ability. Boards and wetsuits provided.

All year round

To gain the most out of your tuition, attaining a reasonable level of physical fitness before your surfcamp is recommended. 2-3 hours of physical activity per week would be ideal.

We will take care of all the surfing equipment, but recommend you also bring along the following items:

  • Suncream and Sun bloc
  • Swimming shorts/costume (simple design to avoid mishaps and rashes – no knots or pearls)
  • Beach towel
  • Beach bag
  • Spare contact lenses if you wear glasses or contacts
  • Warm jumper and beanie
  • USB stick (for photos & video)
  • Your own equipment if you have it
  • Yoga clothes

Location

The massive granite mountains of Serra de Sintra surrounds the town of Sintra. Here you will discover the most beautiful town in Portugal. Once known as the Muns Lunae – the hills of the moon. Mythical architecture and fabulous gardens await you in Sintra along with narrow winding medieval streets. Sheltered between the mountains and the sea the microclimate of Sintra guarantees you the most beautiful sunsets in Portugal. Make sure you visit the Castelo dos Mouros a 9th Century castle erected across two peaks of the Serra mountains. Restored in the 1860’s you will still find wonderful examples of Moorish architecture. Be Cinderella for a day and check out the Palácio Nacional, a fairytale palace with a fantastic set of Mudejar azulejos ceramic tiles. Choose from multiple awesome surf beaches including - Praia Grande & Praia Pequena, (Big Beach and Little Beach), Praia Das Macas, Guincho, and Carcavelos. All offering great surf options with a variety of breaks and attributes. Scale the heights of Sintra with fabulous climbing locations including - Castelo dos Mouros, Pedra Amarela, Bouldering-Peninha, Magoito, and Guia. From easy to challenging, with boulders to basalt, there are options for all climbers. If your not surfing or climbing, continue to enjoy the radiant beaches and Atlantic waters of the Serra de Sintra, with golden sands and great fishing. Sintra and the Serra de Sintra area are accessible by train from Lisbon

Mad about cheesecake? then you will love the Serra de Sintra. Here you will find the local cheesecake with a caramelized top called ‘Queijada’ in nearly every cafe. Pleasure your taste-buds in Portugal with fabulous bakeries and great coffee. If you prefer a savoury experience then the Serra de Sintra has plenty of Gourmet options. Seafood choices abound but the region is gastronomically diverse having drawn influences from all over the world, particularly Brazil. You will find liver, partridge and beef options as well as vegetarian. Enjoy gold-medal wines - the town of Colares is famous for its excellent white wines and full-bodied red wines with high tannin content. Ramisco, Arinto, Dona Branca, and Malvasia grapes grow well in the sandy dunes protected from the Atlantic winds. Producing wines that are unique in their transcendent flavour and composition.

Surf House

The house comfortably accommodates 10-12 guests, is a blend of typical Portuguese style furnishings with a cosy and intimate surf vibe. Our 3 rooms are for 2 or 6 persons, are clean, functional, furnished in a modest Portuguese style, have Wifi access, towels & linen. We have double, single or bunk beds, and can provide girls only rooms if required. We can also accommodate our rooms for families and can offer you private chelates 3min walk away.
