4 Days/ 3 Nights Selous Game Reserve Wildlife

On this epic four day safari, you'll travel across some of Tanzania's untouched land as you make your way down to the Selous Game Reserve, on the lookout for some of the countries best wildlife. The tour includes a combination of boat, 4x4 and foot safaris as you venture into an area of outstanding beauty that receives only a handful of tourists each year. Get ready to spot hippos frolicking in the river, elephants meandering along dusty roads, and lions prowling along the plains. Other animal spottings will likely include buffalo, wild dogs, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra, Kudus, and Crocodiles!

We offer a range of accommodation to suit different budgets, and this will affect the overall cost of your trip. Some of our favorite lodges on this tour are the Selous Hippo Camp, the Selous Kinga Lodge, and the Rufiji River Camp. We may also stay at bandas (metal huts) found inside the park or at tented camps that border the park. Accommodation cost will include three meals a day.

Day 1 - Dar es Salaam/Selous Game Reserve
Day one begins with an 08:30am pick up from your hotel in Dar es Salam. From here we begin the drive over to the Selous Game Reserve, stopping for a picnic lunch along the way to break up the five-hour drive. The tour arrives into the Selous in the afternoon, and you'll head straight out on a boat safari to admire hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Meals and overnight will be at Selous Hippo Tented Camp/Kinga lodge. Meals Plan: Lunch & Dinner.

Day 2 - Full day in Selous Game Reserve
Day two begins with breakfast at your accommodation followed by full day game drives in the reserve. Selous is a home to large population of elephant, a big number of buffalo and sleek wild dogs. Other species commonly seen are lion, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra, Kudus and Crocodile. Dinner and overnight will be at the Selous Hippo Tented Camp/Kinga lodge. Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 3 - Full day in Selous Game Reserve
Day three begins similar to day two with a hearty breakfast and a game drive through the reserve. Today you're going to be ticking off any animals you didn't get to see yesterday, so cross your fingers for a sighting! Dinner and overnight will be at the Selous Hippo Tented Camp/Kinga Lodge. Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 4 – Selous Game Reserve/Dar es Salaam
Your final day on safari begins with breakfast, followed by the unique experience of a walking safari through the bush! Our talented and knowledgeable guides will help you traverse the land on foot, following pawprints in the dirt to enjoy animal spottings. After this, you'll take a three-hour drive back to Dar es Salaam where you'll be dropped off at your hotel of choice.

3 Days/ 2 Nights - Mikumi National Park Safari Wildlife

This three-day safari takes in the very best of Tanzania's Mikumi National park (which forms part of the Selous eco-system) and includes two game drives and one sunset game drive. All game drives take place in our modern six seater 4x4's which feature pop up roofs for the best animal viewings. Animal sightings will likely include giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, impalas, lion, elands, wildebeest, zebras and troops of baboons which makes this the perfect safari for newbies!

Day 1 – Dar es Salaam/Mikumi National Park
Day 1 begins with a hotel pickup in Dar es Salaam, or directly from Julias Nyerere International Airport airport upon your arrival. From here the tour departs for Mikumi National park (5-6 hours drive from Dar Es Salaam) which is nestled between the Uluguru Mountains to the East and the Rift Valley Escarpments to the Southwest. As it is close to the Selous ecosystem and therefore part of it, it benefits from the highest game density of the entire conservation area. The Mikumi National Park obtains a good impression of the African animal world and is suitable for a short visit. After arriving into Mikumi National Park, you'll have the opportunity to embark on a sunset game drive around the park. Dinner and overnight will be at an agreed upon lodge. Day 2 - Mikumi National Park
This morning you'll enjoy breakfast at camp followed by a full day game viewing drive in the park. The park shares a common boundary with Selous Game Reserve to the South forming a vast track of protected wilderness. Lunch will be at Kikoboga Camp or Morogoro Town, depending on traffic. In the afternoon we will have game viewing drive in the park around the hippo pools (Kisungura Circuit). Most animal can be seen coming down to drink at water holes and the Hippo Pools from time to time, but the stars of the show will always be the hippos themselves. Dinner and overnight at will be at a pre-arranged lodge. Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 3 - Mikumi National Park/Dar es Salaam
After an early morning breakfast, the tour heads out for a final game viewing drive in the park, common animal to be seen are giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, impalas, lion, elands, wildebeest, zebras, and troops of baboons. Lunch will be enjoyed in the park continuing on to Dar es Salaam, where you will arrive late afternoon and be dropped off at the hotel or airport. Meals Plan; Breakfast & Lunch.

Our Usambara head offices are based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s bustling capital. From here we plan, organize, and piece together our epic East Africa Safari’s and it’s the departure point for all our tours. From Dar es Salaam Airport (Julius Nyerere International Airport) it’s just a 30-minute taxi ride to our headquarters.

Food

Most of our safari and climbing packages include three meals a day. These will either be enjoyed and eaten at your hotel or as a picnic on the road. On some occasions, a chef and porter will join you on your trip and will prepare your meals at camp on an evening. If you have any dietary requests, please let us know as soon as possible so we can try to tailor your meal plans to suit your needs.
