From all 4 corners of the mystical and intriguing East of our fair continent, there is something incredible to be discovered. The untouched and historical shores of the Lakes in Montenegro to the mountain peaks in Siberia; the Baltic nations offer so much not to mention rad snow conditions.
We have done a little invitatory work, scored the internet and talk to some fellow riders and we have come up with a list of 5 spots that will round out the Baltic addition of our "A Winters Dream" series.
With only 10km worth of groomers, one could be tempted to disregard this resort but the real draw comes with the 100skm of freeride terrain; it's somewhat of a powder heaven. The resort has been attracting backcountry lovers in secret for some time now and while we don't want flocks of people, we thought you adventurers should know about the riding potential. The resort offers the possibility to gain first tracks with a snowcat and camping operator, ensuring that a unique adventure is possible in this memorising town. Its only an hour from the capital airport with reasonable transport links. We heard about Bansko from some British friends, the resort has been popularised for its party atmosphere and easy to intermediate level slopes. However, with a long snow-sure winter and the freeride relatively undiscovered, this opens a door for discovery. Armed with your touring gear, a good crew and a terrain map, Bansko offers a chance to explore, dare we say, trails few have walked before. Failing that, the Apres is vibrant, the atmosphere electric and that after-backcountry beer is very well priced. Click here to find out more about booking.

Jasna is slowing becoming synonymous with extreme skiing and snowboarding and that's partly due to the formidable 4* Freeride World Qualifier stop. Now attracting riders from all over the globe that want the chance to ride in Slovakia on a renowned hill and alongside world-class riders. The terrain is dotted generously with scintillating features, interesting and varied, not to mention a very respectable track record, together make for many really exciting possibilities. The resort has also been the grateful recipients to over €130million worth of investment to see the infrastructure improved hugely. The overall cost of travel, accommodation and living costs are low which means it doesn't cost the world to earn those turns. Click the link to learn more.

Cast your mind to the spooky and ominous city of Bucharest, a city drenched in history, the home of Dracula's castle, just 12km from the medieval town of Brasov, then travel not far, to the mouth of the Carpathian Mountain you have Poiana Brasov. The 25km of slopes offer great terrain for beginner and intermediate skiers and boarders BUT with the addition of your touring gear, the terrain is very similar to that of the Norwegian Fjords, perfect for cross-country ski touring, low incline, breathtaking views and an opportunity to travel the path less travelled. Thanks to some recent funding, the town is also now home to great hotels, bars and restaurants. A super cool chance to experience the mountains, Romanian style. Click here to discover more.
Sadly we couldn't find a reputable IG for the resort.
Rosa Khutor Resort, in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, is located in the Western Caucasus along the Roza Khutor plateau. If you are partial to the finer things in life, Rosa Khutor mixes the luxurious Russian lifestyle with fantastic skiing and snowboarding. One of a few towns that were virtually built from scratch to house the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Rosa Khutor, therefore, offers challenging and diverse slopes. But what about off the slopes?- Between these 4 resorts built for the games, the terrain is ideally suited for ski touring as well as the lifts access to fun and exciting slack country. No need to expend a sweat, the lift system makes it very convenient! Click here to find out more.

Jumbo Mountain has a story, a tale to tell. Somewhat unknown to us in Europe, but for the locals of Jumbo glacier and those living in the area, the question of this "resort" no matter what side you are on, is everything. The development plans for this resort for some mean innovation, jobs and expansion and for other it means the destruction of the environment and native land. Thrillism wants to bring the story from both sides to you.
If you spend any time it the backcountry, anywhere in the world, skiing, hiking, climbing etc then you need to read this article.
