After a childhood in the Netherlands Rik Hendriks the founder of DutchCo Trekking first came to Cambodia in 2001 and already fancied himself as a bit of an explorer and adventurer. In 2007 Rik returned to Cambodia and was surprised at the amount of deforestation and ecological destruction that had occurred in the intervening years. Rik who was now a qualified social care worker decided he would start a company that would balance ecological sustainability with the care of the disadvantaged. DutchCo Trekking was founded in 2007 and has worked tirelessly to restore and maintain biodiversity in Cambodia, whilst simultaneously lifting local people out of poverty and into well-paid employment.
