Nicaragua is a backpacker’s dream. It’s easy to get around, travel is cheap, landscapes are breathtakingly beautiful, local culture is colorful, and best of all, the Pacific waves are working over 300 days every year. If you’re looking for perfect barrels or just want to learn the basics, this is a great place to do it.
The surf conditions here are super similar to Costa Rica’s, but Nica has a lot going for it, especially for surfers on a budget. More good news is that Nica’s surfing hotspots are way less crowded than Costa’s, and there’s a solid chance you won’t have to wait in a lineup at all.
